Spring Summer 2019
Nuba / Spring Summer 2019
Sometimes you find a great book. Sometimes it is the other way around. “The Last of the Nuba,” found me last summer in a vintage book shop on The Cape. Published in the early 70’s by Leni Rienfenstahl, the book’s cover called to me, its pages transported.
The Nuba Peoples are known for body painting— their bodies are their place in the world—and there is a thoughtful energy to the symbols and patterns with which they adorn themselves. Intentional, open, grounded and free— it’s how I feel about home.
