These block printed artworks are inspired by the I Ching or 'Book of Changes'. This ancient Chinese divination text was one of the first attempts by humans to place themselves within the universe and has been used for over 3000 years to understand the past and predict the future.
The I Ching consists of 64 hexagrams, each composed of six horizontal lines. Each trigram (set of three lines) has a different meaning. K'un / The Receptive is composed of Earth (K'un) and Earth (K'un) #2. This hexagram symbolizes nature's richness and its' power to nourish.
