I did a collab with Madewell and its finally here! this collaboration is my very first foray into clothing and accessories - seeing my patterns translated to wearable things has been such a delightful treat!
the inspiration for this collection was based on characters of the alphabet. At CZH we make most all our designs from a set of 26 shapes. I arranged them in different formats and configurations to create all of our designs - its so amazing to see how much you can create with such a strict boundary.
I wanted to do the same alphabet idea but with a more painterly approach. so I made 26 characters and arranged them the same way I do for our block-printed designs. I wanted this print to be bolder and for it to shout almost, and for the block-printed design to be more of a whisper so that two fabrics could be worn together to create a nice little conversation if you will!
I am so stoked to see these pieces come to life. below you will see some pics of our photoshoot with Madewell in our red hook studio and also some process shots from how the designs came to be.
